Data Analyst

Franklin Associates seeks a Data Analyst to provide data reporting and analytic capabilities to assist our government clients in implementing important projects to assist households recover from disasters, educate citizens regarding important public infrastructure projects and assist governments in applying for and administering federal and state funding to make their communities more equitable and resilient. This position will work across our portfolio of client projects to create reporting mechanisms, develop dashboards to satisfy client and stakeholder needs, and to analyze data to identify trends and provide insights. This position will also work to create internal-facing reports.

Over the past 18 years, Franklin has supported state and local government clients throughout the United States to implement a wide range of programs including: disaster recovery, grant management, climate adaptation, public health, transportation, and land use planning. Our functional expertise is in program management and operations, technical assistance, community engagement and public outreach, training, website development, compliance and monitoring, and performance measurement and evaluation.

This is a full time, position based in Baton Rouge, Louisiana with possibility to be remote for the right candidate.

Duties and Responsibilities 

  • Clean and prepare data for analysis including removing errors, identifying outliers, and transforming data into a format that can be analyzed

  • Develop automated reports and dashboards using data visualization tools such as Power BI to communicate project progress with clients and stakeholders

  • Create useful and actionable insight for Franklin’s customers through the development of data analysis tools

  • Create internal-facing data reporting mechanisms to assist with firm processes and procedures

  • Work with government clients and internal staff to identify process improvement opportunities, propose system modifications, and devise data governance strategies

  • Connect data from disparate data systems and develop cohesive reports and dashboards to enable data driven decision-making.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in data analytics, computer science, statistics, or related field

  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Power BI and Excel, including the ability to create advanced dashboards and reporting mechanisms

  • Highly proficient at shaping data into reporting and analytics solutions, including creating automated reports and dashboards

  • Proficient with ArcGIS

  • Capable of working both independently and as part of a team

  • Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Results driven with the ability to meet deadlines

  • Experience using a variety of mathematical, statistical, data mining, and data analysis methods/tools

  • Experience with other software including R, SQL, SPSS, Stata, or Python is a plus.
